Convening the accounting academic community across Hong Kong's nine universities — committed to research excellence, doctoral development, and the global standing of accounting academia in the region.
The Hong Kong Academic Accounting Association serves the accounting academic community across Hong Kong's nine universities. Our mission is to strengthen the discipline locally — through research collaboration, faculty exchange, doctoral training, and peer support for early-career scholars based at HK institutions.
HKAAA's flagship convening is the Junior Accounting Faculty Conference (JAFC) — an annual research forum for early-career accounting faculty across Hong Kong, building on a prior tradition of junior faculty research workshops within the HK accounting community. The Conference brings junior colleagues from each of HK's nine universities into one room to present working papers, exchange feedback, and build the relationships that sustain a regional research community.
The Association is faculty-led. Its leadership rotates across HK accounting departments, and its work is anchored in the day-to-day needs of HK-based accounting scholars — from junior faculty development to the doctoral pipeline.
Building on this foundation, HKAAA is launching its second flagship: the inaugural HKAAA Rookie Camp — a landmark, region-wide recruitment event designed to bring top global accounting PhD candidates and HK recruiting faculty into one focused day. The Camp gives HK departments early, direct access to international job-market talent in a coordinated convening, replaces a fragmented set of one-off interviews with a single regional touchpoint, and positions Hong Kong as a primary destination on the global accounting academic job market each autumn. Inaugural 2026 partner: the Department of Accountancy at City University of Hong Kong.
Upcoming: The two flagships now anchor a back-to-back HK accounting weekend in October 2026 — the inaugural Rookie Camp on Friday, 2 October 2026, followed by the Junior Accounting Faculty Conference on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The pairing lets visiting candidates, recruiting faculty, and HK junior colleagues meet in one trip.
